Listen to the interview with Carolyn Howard-Johnson here.

The second edition of The Frugal Book Promoter is an updated version of the multi award-winning first edition. It has been expanded to include simple ways to promote books using newer technology–always considering promotion and marketing techniques that are easy on the pocketbook and frugal of time.

Carolyn Howard-Johnson honed her review-getting skills using marketing basics and a few tricks of her own when she managed to get reviews in the likes of The Library Journal after the publisher of her first novel neglected to query the big New York review journals.

A former journalist, retailer, marketer, and publicist, she brought all her knowledge to the task of building a battery of reviews for her fiction, poetry and nonfiction—and she shares them all with you.

She is the recipient of the California Legislature’s Woman of the Year in Arts and Entertainment Award.

She was awarded her city’s Diamond Award for Achievement in the Arts and its Character and Ethics Award for her work promoting tolerance with her writing.

She was also named to Pasadena Weekly’s list of Women Who Make Life Happen.

She was an instructor for the world-renowned UCLA Extension Writers’ Program for nearly a decade, has appeared on hundreds of TV and radio stations and on occasional commercials for the likes of Apple, Blue Shield, Time-Life CDs, and Disney Cruises (Japan).
