One way to build a freelance writing business, particularly if you’re a teacher or former teacher, is to write for the educational market.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of opportunities out there for writers who can write for this market.

Over the years, I’ve written a few dozen nonfiction books for the children’s educational market.

I’ve also written lesson plans, curriculum guides, teacher’s guides, reading passages, test questions, and even audio scripts and readers theatre scripts.

The good news for all writers is that many times, opportunities within the educational market are not limited to writers with a teaching background.

Publishers for this market usually just want to find writers who can write clearly and can follow guidelines to the letter.
