List Building Tips

grow your list

As the saying goes, “The money is in the list.”

That list is your mailing list, of course.

Why do you need a mailing list?

Well, because your mailing list is the way you connect with potential (and current) customers and clients on an ongoing basis, so they get to know, like, and trust you.

And people need to know, like, and trust you—for the most part—BEFORE they hire you for a writing assignment or purchase any of your products.

So how do you get people to join your mailing list?

By offering them something irresistible for joining your list.

This is often called an “ethical bribe”, but I like to call it “an irresistible freebie.”

The thing is, everything isn’t irresistible to every person out there.

Which is why you need to get to know your target market—so you’ll know what would be irresistible to them.

It might take awhile to get to know your market well enough to create the perfect freebie, but that’s okay because you can create several freebies and test them all (over a period of time) to see which one(s) result in more people opting into your list.

Now, I know what you’re thinking.

What kind of freebies?

Fortunately, there are sorts of items that make irresistible freebies.

I’ve made a list of 50 of them for you—to help you start thinking about your first, or next, freebie.

And guess how you get it?

Yep. By joining MY mailing list, of course.
