Live a Fairy Tale Life

If you’re a writer, your life is a lot like a fairy tale.

That’s because you’re always struggling to get things “just right” much like Goldilocks.

Getting things “just right” means you’re always doing enough writing, submitting, and promoting to establish your career and keep it going.

But how much of all this is “just right” and not too much or too little?

Well, if you’re doing too little, your writing career probably isn’t taking off quickly enough to suit you.

You probably aren’t getting enough well-paying freelance assignments to pay all the bills.

You probably aren’t seeing your byline in the publications you wish to write for.

If you’re doing too much, you’re probably overwhelmed.

You’re beginning to feel frazzled and truly wonder if you can keep up this crazy pace and still have any kind of personal life.

To get things “just right, try the following:

1. Stick to your 3 major writing/career goals for the year.

Make sure everything you do each day comes under 1 or more of these 3 major goals.

For that reason, be sure your 3 major goals are rather broad.

2. Create a realistic weekly marketing plan and writing schedule every Sunday night or Monday morning.

Then, when Monday rolls around, simply stick to this plan (and avoid the urge to keep adding more and more to the plan) during the work week.

3. Be patient and willing to wait for a few things.

If you try to make everything happen at once, you’ll probably get stressed and overwhelmed.

It’s better to make slow, consistent progress because you can keep up this kind of pace over time.

Today, instead of trying to do too much–or letting yourself get by with doing too little (or even nothing)–remind yourself that the key to a successful writing career is living a fairy tale life and getting things “just right.”

But that isn’t difficult to do if you just follow the steps outlined, above.

Live a Fairy Tale Life. Try it!
