Here are 7 brand-new creative writing prompts for the week ahead.
Each one is designed to spark curiosity, forward motion, and imaginative world-building.
Monday’s Prompt – The Stolen Silence
Suddenly, the world is never quiet.
A soft hum underlies everything, and no one can figure out where it’s coming from—except your character, who remembers the moment it began.
Tuesday’s Prompt – The Forgetting Tree
There’s a tree in the park that makes people forget things when they sit beneath it.
Your character sits there and forgets something important.
They don’t remember what—but someone else does.
Wednesday’s Prompt – Rental Dreamscapes
A new app allows users to rent other people’s dreams.
Your character signs up out of curiosity—and wakes up changed.
What dream did they borrow, and what did it unlock?
Thursday’s Prompt – The Message in the Static
While driving through a remote area, your character picks up a burst of static on the radio.
But layered beneath it is a voice—saying their name and something they need to hear.
Friday’s Prompt – One Hour Back
Each Friday at midnight, your character receives the chance to relive one hour from the previous week.
But this time, the hour they’re given wasn’t theirs to begin with.
Saturday’s Prompt – The Clockmaker’s Guestbook
Your character visits a tiny repair shop and flips through the dusty guestbook on the counter.
Instead of names and dates, it’s filled with confessions.
One entry is signed with their name.
Sunday’s Prompt – Skyline Shift
The city skyline changes overnight.
A building that was never there before now towers over everything—but no one else seems to notice.
Your character walks through its front doors.
