4. Jane left the air salon determined to find out if blondes really do have more fun.

5. It was definitely her neighbor Gary that Sue spotted in the park. But it was not his wife, Jane, that he was passionately kissing.

6. Things always work out for the best, Mother always said. But how could this possibly be for the best, Abby wondered.

7. Heather looked at the two small ring boxes on her dressing table and sighed. Two marriage proposals over the weekend. But, why oh why, had she accepted both of them?

8. Sadie hated these monthly dinner parties with all the neighbors in her small apartment building. All anyone wanted to talk about was what was wrong with their apartment. But wait. Was that Carl Johnson, the hunkie single dad from down the hall, trying to play footsie with Sadie under the table?

9. It was such a boring little town. But now that Mark had taken a job here, he would have have to get used to being bored.

10. Rose was usually such a sensible young woman. But when she met Spencer Keys, she acted so crazy, her friends hardly recognized her anymore.
