4. Dana thought working in a retirement home would be a piece of cake. But she wasn’t prepared for what it was really like.

5. It was only Day 1 of her new diet, but Mia didn’t think she would be able to stick it out much longer. She was so hungry everything was starting to look appetizing, even the next door neighbor’s cat.

6. Jacey stared at her French Bull dog, Maurice. “That’s a guilty face if I ever saw one,” she said. “What have you done now?”

7. Abby was out for her morning run when she disappeared.

8. “Let’s try a little makeup,” said the salesgirl at the cosmetics counter. “You’ll be surprised at how wonderful you will look and feel.”

9. Jake propped his feet up and admired the ocean that spread out before him. He was miles away from everyone and everything and ready to enjoy some peace and quiet for the next week. Then his cellphone buzzed.

10. Ted and Karen had sold everything to buy a truck and a camper, and now they were starting out on their first road trip.
