November Writing Challenge

If you want to become a professional writer (meaning, you’ll eventually get paid to write), then the most important habit you need to develop right now is the habit of writing on a regular basis.

That doesn’t mean you need to write every day.

But once you start writing regularly, you’ll probably find that you are writing every day or at least most days.

With that in mind, here is this month’s writing challenge.

November Writing Challenge

Make it a goal to do a little writing at least 5 days every week in November.

For example, you could decide to get a little writing done every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this month, but take a break from writing every weekend.

Or, you might decide to write for at least 15 minutes at least 5 days each week and Saturday and Sunday could be excellent writing days for you.

It doesn’t matter what you write or for how long each session.

If you have a work-in-progress, you might want to make that the focus of your writing each time you sit down to get a little writing done.

For example, if you’re trying to write a novel for NANOWRIMO this month, it should be easy to meet this challenge because most days you’ll be working on your novel.

But, if you aren’t taking part in NANOWRIMO, and you don’t have a work-in-progress, you could use some writing prompts (we have hundreds of them here) and just practice your creative writing.

Each day you get some writing done, come back here and leave a comment to this post, letting us know how things are going (it’s always nice for us to know if writers are taking part in our monthly challenge).

One more thing.

It’s a good idea to keep a log of your writing at first.

You can log in the date and the amount of time you wrote that day or you might choose to log the number of words you write during each writing session.

Either way, please accept this challenge and get some writing done this month.

Try it!

  1. Hi Suzanne!

    I accept this challenge.

I always wrote 1,137 words today.

I am trying to finish up a book that I started at the beginning of this year. It would be really nice to have that done by the end of the year.

Thank you for setting up this challenge. I find this group so motivating!

Thank you for all that you do!
