Here are 7 fresh creative writing prompts for the week ahead.

Monday’s Prompt – The Voice Behind the Wall
Your character hears a faint voice through a wall in their apartment building.
It doesn’t sound like a neighbor—and it seems to know things it shouldn’t.
Tuesday’s Prompt – The Raincoat Left Behind
At a coffee shop, your character finds a vintage yellow raincoat draped over a chair.
No one saw who left it, but inside one of the pockets is a photo—and your character is in it.
Wednesday’s Prompt – The Same Dream
Three different people report having the exact same dream on the same night.
Your character is one of them.
When they meet, the dream starts becoming real.
Thursday’s Prompt – The Man at the Bus Stop
Every day, your character sees the same man at the bus stop.
He never gets on a bus.
He just watches.
Until one day, he turns to your character and says, “It’s your turn now.”
Friday’s Prompt – The Clock That Counts Backward
A small antique shop owner gives your character a clock as a gift.
But the hands move backward—and with each tick, your character begins to forget something important.
Saturday’s Prompt – The Invisible Object
Your character bumps into something in the middle of an empty field—something solid, but completely invisible.
As they trace its edges, they begin to understand what it is… and what it’s hiding.
Sunday’s Prompt – The Paper Town
While scanning an old map, your character notices a town that doesn’t exist in any modern records.
On a whim, they go looking for it—and find more than they expected.
