Low Cost Book Marketing

Several of my clients are actively marketing new books right now.

And none of these clients has loads of money to spend on marketing.

Susie Kinslow Adams launched her children’s Biblical Coloring and Activity Book a few months ago.

Sales for the book have been good.

But that’s because Susie has continued to actively market the book.

One very inexpensive way she is doing this is through postcards.

Postcards are not a new way to market a book, but they are often underused, especially when authors think they have to spend money on postage to mail the cards.

Susie says, “The printer has my coloring pages on jpg and can pull up what I need. I had him run 100 copies of 26 pages of the book, so the cost was just 3 cents a card.”

What Other Book Marketing Idea Costs So Little?

Susie gives free coloring cards “to people I see in a check out line, servers, kids and families, or anyone I come in contact with. I’ll say, ‘Here’s a couple of free coloring cards – enjoy!’ And sometimes I give a couple of cards as a thank-you when I reach the front of a line, etc.”

On the back of each coloring postcard, Susie includes a link to her site, where parents can purchase the entire coloring book and sign up for her free email newsletter and also get a free cookbook.

The back of Susie’s postcards show her website info.

She has a Kid’s Page at her site, where kids can get a free full-size coloring page, there, too.

If you’re looking for ways to market your book on the cheap, don’t forget about postcards.

When you use them more like calling cards—and give them to people you meet instead of mailing them—they can be one of the best low cost ways to market your book!

Try it!
